Basil
I love basil but oh boy, can it be finicky to grow. Similarly to mint, basil likes to be in it’s own pot (one with drainage holes!)
Basil thrives in the sunshine. Place your plant either outside or inside in a sunny window in your kitchen.
The best and most convenient way to start growing basil is by buying a starter plant at your local garden store or farmers' market.
POTTING:
Plant basil on its own
Select a pot with drainage holes!
LIGHT:
Basil does best in the sunshine; the plant should get about 6 hours each day
WATER:
When only when the soil is dry, aim at the plant's base and avoid the leaves from getting wet.
PRUNING & HARVESTING:
Trim your basil plant once a stem has 6 or more leaves. Trim regularly, it helps the plant to grow!
Pruning often helps the plant branch out and become nice and bushy.
Once the plant produces flowers, the growth cycle ends, so cut flowers off as soon as they pop up.
